    Reed Talent Solutions

    Our clients were struggling to identify and engage with the talent and skills they required. We created 'Consultancy+' - a ‘gig economy’ marketplace which connects businesses to talented expert consultants. Consultants register on our innovative platform, and bid for our client’s consulting opportunities.

    What customer problems did you set out to solve?

    Our clients were struggling to access the talent needed to deliver niche and complex statement of work projects. Our clients were struggling to identify or control their consultancy spend, often retrospectively having to find a compliant route to market (public sector) or track and report spend (private sector). Projects frequently overran, which led to spiralling costs. Clients were unclear on how to procure consultancy services effectively, often feeling nervous about directly engaging PSCs in light of the new IR35 legislation. Some clients felt that their consultants were not vetted.

    What differentiates your proposition from other offerings in the market?

    PMO support: Consultancy+ offers clients effective project scoping and contract management support.

    Improved procurement process: Clients benefit from access to new suppliers which increases both competition and quality, alongside access to specialist commercial buying experience through our expert partner

    Cost savings: Negotiation and market benchmarking enhance the savings potential

    Compliance: All consultants are vetted, and our process is OJEU compliant (public sector) and IR35 compliant. Consultancy+ ensures that supplier rates reflect the resource type and risk involved

    Better budget control: Consultancy+ offers an enhanced approval process for procuring services, & resource visibility and control through bespoke MI reporting.

    What impact has the proposition had?

    Consultancy+ has given our clients increased visibility and control of their consultancy spend. One client told us “You’ve saved us from spending £7m on the wrong thing”. The Consultancy+ marketplace has provided our clients with access to new suppliers who are able to meet their complex business consulting requirements.

    What’s next for your proposition?

    We’re working with our clients to establish their consulting pain points, and to continually improve our product. Our clients report needing consultants with expertise in areas such as cyber security and financial legislation. We’re currently growing our marketplace of consultants to meet this need.
