    SSE Smart 1 Year Fixed

    SSE plc

    An energy tariff that rewards customers for signing up to a Smart Meter with a £50 energy credit at the end of their 1 year fixed term. This will help customers to access the benefits of a smart meter and will also reward them with fixed price for 12 months and an energy credit (no exit fees).

    What customer problems did you set out to solve?

    Consumers who are adapting to smart want some tangible benefits to prompt them to switch to a smart meter. Research shows that an energy credit gives reassurance as the customer adapts to this new meter type and provides more certainty than a time of use tariff.


    What differentiates your proposition from other offerings in the market?

    This proposition provides customers with a fixed benefit regardless of usage. Ensuring transparency as customers compare the value of smart vs non-smart options.

    How have you proven that your concept has potential for impact?

    This concept was designed via an innovation process that was routed in customer insight. Moreover, it was tested via customer research with approx. 5k respondents (qual & quant) and research confirmed a high appeal rate for both propositions. Since launch; this proposition has performed well and both customer and staff feedback has been positive.

    Where do you see this proposition in 12 months time?

    As the size of the ‘smart’ customer base grows we will seek to offer benefits that are more personalised to the smart consumer and will continue to reward loyalty.
