    Waitrose Rapid Delivery

    John Lewis & Partners

Waitrose Rapid Delivery - Choose up to 20 items from a range of over 1500 Waitrose products and get them delivered to your door in as little as 2 hours.

What customer problems did you set out to solve?

Customers increasingly want to buy whatever they want whenever they want it. Many people have moved away from the weekly supermarket visit to more fluid shopping habits that fit in with their busy lives and offer better control against over-buying and waste. Trips to the supermarket are therefore much more impulsive and frequent - Waitrose Rapid Delivery ensures we give customers even greater flexibility and convenience allowing them to get their shopping as and when they want it.

What differentiates your proposition from other offerings in the market?

Rapid delivery puts customers first by offering a convenient service which saves them time & effort without compromising on quality.

    • Convenient delivery - express delivery within 2 hours, or specify a 1 hour same day slot with real time tracking
    • Right products - shop from a range of high quality Waitrose products and everyday essentials
    • Dinner tonight solved - choose from a range of inspiring, delicious food options
    • Eco delivery - Working with “On The Dot” to reduce our ecological footprint move to a ‘zero-emission’ fleet

How have you proven that your concept has potential for impact?

Waitrose has teamed up with On the dot, the last mile retail delivery startup, to launch an initial trial in selected London postcodes. The trial is in the very early stage but customer feedback has been positive so far.

Where do you see this proposition in 12 month’s time?

If the trial is a success then longer term Waitrose would aim to scale the service across London and ultimately offer it from all branches across the UK. They are also planning on experimenting with new services including fresh sushi delivery to enhance the proposition for customers.
